Chaydon O’Fallon (Fr., 197 lbs.) started his Minnesota State University career off with a first place finish at the Luther College Open in Decorah, Iowa Saturday. Four other Mavericks placed at the open.

O’Fallon, a Shakopee, Minn. native, won all four matches in his silver 197 lbs. bracket. In his first action of the Open, O’Fallon won by decision over Tom Mitchell (Luther College) by a score of 4-2. His next two wins came by falls at the 0:56 mark and 6:30 mark. He earned the first place title with a decision win of 3-2 over Awais Arian (Loras College).

After each wrestler placed at the Iowa State Open last weekend, both Da’Wayne Robertson (Jr., 125 lbs.) and Malcolm Allen (Jr., 285 lbs.) placed 4th and 5th, respectively. Robertson lost his 3rd place match by a decision of 6-1 to Ethan Lizak (University of Minnesota). Allen won his 5th place match by a medical forfeit over Anthony Edgren (Wisconsin-Whitewater).

Ten other Mavericks competed attached but only Alphonso Vruno (Jr., 141 lbs.) and Scott VanDeLoo (Jr., 184 lbs.) placed 4th at the Open.

MSU will travel to Concordia (Wis.) on Saturday, Nov. 22, for its next open competition.
