The Mae Young Classic tournament will feature 32 women all participating for the chance to win a trophy, but none of the entrants for the show this year had been announced, but one woman is now officially set to return to WWE this August. WWE’s tournaments have featured a few former WWE Superstars return as throwback entrants. These entrants have included Brian Kendrick in the 2016 Cruiserweight Classic tournament, as well as Serena Deeb in last year’s Mae Young Classic tournament. Both failed to win their respective tournaments, but they are now working for WWE once again. A similar fate could very well be on the way for the first official entrant in this year’s edition of the Mae Young Classic.

WWE has just announced that former WWE Superstar and Divas Champion Kaitlyn will be coming back to compete in the Mae Young Classic tournament this August. Kaitlyn sat down with ESPN to talk about her return to WWE in a recent interview, and she noted that she is feeling nervous about her comeback, but she has also gained a lot of experience since she returned to the wrestling via the independent circuit earlier this year. Kaitlyn had been teasing a possible return to WWE online and through interviews, but the former champion says that she is excited to be part of the ongoing Women’s Evolution in WWE and cannot wait to step back in the ring and compete for the company once again.

Kaitlyn’s first WWE run was very short as it only lasted from 2010-2014, but she accomplished a lot during her original run with the company. Kaitlyn competed in the third season of the NXT game show and she even won the competition. From there, she wrestled on the main WWE roster before she won the Divas Championship for the first and only time in her career so far. Kaitlyn held the title for about five months before dropping it to former WWE Superstar AJ Lee. Although Kaitlyn voluntarily walked away from WWE in 2014, she announced her return to the squared circle earlier this year. Fans have been waiting for her to return to WWE ever since, but she will officially be back for at least two nights on August 8th and 9th.
